Maui Travel Economy Remains Weak
October 29, 2023 - Are we in a recovery, or not. Like the Masters of the Economic Universe, we look at the data, and read the tea leaves. After staging steady increases for several weeks, visitor numbers for Maui seem to be slumping going into November. Continuing weekly unemployment claims in Maui County seem to have peaked, but remain high. And as for rental car rates, not much change this week from the week before. Lowest advertised rates for one week rental starting Monday 10/30, from Kahului Airport (OGG):
Off-airport (with shuttle): $180.94
Airport Rentacar Center: $222.16
