Maui Rental Car Surplus Continues
September 10, 2023 - In all matters economic, there is a "long and variable lag" for the effects of an exogenous system shock to manifest. This phrase was originated by Economics Nobel Prize Winner Milton Friedman. The Maui rental car economy is no different. It has taken about a month for airport rental car rates to adjust to the effects of the Lahaina disaster. With idle rental cars everywhere, the rates were due to plummet.
